Man charged over Sennen attack on mother and children

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder after a mother and her three children were attacked.

A 33-year-old woman was stabbed in the neck and her sons, aged nine and five, suffered head injuries. Her daughter, 7, had facial injuries, police said.

Officers were called to a house in Sennen, Cornwall, just after 06:00 BST on Saturday.

Steven Challands, 34, of Purcell Close, Maltby, Yorkshire, appeared at Truro Magistrates' Court on Sunday.

He is charged with one count of attempted murder, four counts of false imprisonment, two counts of grievous bodily harm and one count of actual bodily harm.

Mr Challands was remanded in custody to appear at Truro Crown Court on 27 May.

Devon and Cornwall Police said none of the injuries sustained were "life threatening or life changing".
