Charges of physical and sexual assault against Cornish entertainer and BBC radio DJ Freddy Zapp have been dropped.

Mr Zapp was accused of one count of assaulting a female and one count of sexual assault against a female over the age of 16 in November.

However, both counts have been dropped at Truro Crown Court.

Mr Zapp, 62, a BBC Radio Cornwall presenter from Redruth, had previously denied the charges.

Outside the court Mr Zapp said: "I'm glad this nightmare is over.

"I can now get on with what I do best, which is to entertain people."
