Bodmin Post Office refurbishment 'will help keep branch open'

Plans to upgrade a town post office will improve the branch and help keep it open, North Cornwall's MP says.

Bodmin Post Office, in Costcutters in Fore Street, will be refurbished and reopen as a "main style" branch as part of a government programme, Liberal Democrat Dan Rogerson said.

The move would offer more services and extended opening hours, he claimed.

The Post Office part of the shop is to close on 24 February for refurbishment and reopen on 7 March.

The refurbishment is part of a £640m government scheme to modernise post offices, particularly in rural areas, Mr Rogerson said.

The upgrade would also mean some services would be available from other counters in the shop, which were open until 22:00, after the main Post Office closed at 17:30, he added.
