Gary Hughes: GP died 'from stab wound to his chest'

A Cornish GP died from a stab wound to the chest, an inquest has been told.

The body of Dr Geraint Hughes, 60, was found at the home he shared with his wife Marion in the village of Feock, in November.

A report based on the post-mortem examination was read out at his inquest which was opened and adjourned at Truro City Hall.

Mrs Hughes, 58, is charged with murdering her husband and has been remanded in custody until her trial.

Dr Hughes's body was discovered after the emergency services were called to the couple's detached bungalow.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.
