St Ives house crash man suffers serious head injuries

A man has been airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after his car crashed into the wall of a house near St Ives.

Firefighters cut the man, who is in his 50s, free from the wreckage at about 07:15 BST on Abbey Hill in Lelant.

He was flown to Plymouth's Derriford Hospital by air ambulance.

The Tempest roundabout at the junction of Abbey Hill, Mill Hill and the B3301 near the Badger's Inn pub have been closed.

A Devon and Cornwall Police spokesman said the roads were expected to remain shut for some time and drivers were warned to avoid the area.
