Man injured in Newquay cliff fall

A man has been airlifted to hospital after falling 80 feet (24 metres) down a cliff in Newquay.

The incident happened at about 22:30 BST on Wednesday on Great Western Beach.

A coastguard rescue team and paramedics were called to the scene.

A helicopter from RNAS Culdrose took the man for treatment at Derriford Hospital in Plymouth, the region's major trauma centre. His condition is unknown.
