Man, 66, found unconscious on St Peter's Point beach

A man has been airlifted to hospital after he was found unconscious on a beach at St Peter's Point in Cornwall.

Beach lifeguards from nearby Gwithian used a defibrillator on the 66-year-old man and performed cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR).

The rescue was coordinated by Falmouth Coastguard, who said they were alerted to the incident at about lunchtime.

The man was flown to hospital by a search and rescue helicopter from RNAS Culdrose. His condition is not known.
