Helston shed fire leads to body discovery

A body has been discovered in Cornwall following a fire in a shed close to a boating lake in a park.

The emergency services were called to the fire in Coronation Park, Helston, at around 23:20 GMT on Friday.

Cornwall Fire and Rescue service said the body was discovered after the fire was extinguished.

Devon and Cornwall Police and the fire service are carrying out an investigation at the scene. No further information has been released.

Tez Rees, a rough sleeper who had been in a shed nearby, attempted to rescue the victim.

He said: "The fire brigade pulled me out because I was determined to get him out.

"The poor fellow never had a chance."
