Gun recovered after man attacked in Newquay

Police in Newquay have recovered a hand gun after an attack on a man.

The 30-year-old victim was assaulted by three men with a metal bar in Trevose Avenue at about 20:30 GMT on Tuesday, Devon and Cornwall Police said.

He was taken to the Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro for treatment to cuts and bruises on his head and body before being discharged.

Police said the firearm was not used in the attack but was recovered after being found at the scene.

Armed officers were also involved, which is usual practice where a firearm has been recovered, the force said.
