Funding confirmed for Cornish link road
Funding for a new road linking Camborne, Pool and Redruth in west Cornwall, has been confirmed by the Department for Transport (DfT).
Cornwall Council hopes the road will relieve traffic from the built up area and cut down noise and air pollution.
The DfT has announced it will fund £16.1m of the £26.8m scheme.
A new east-west link road will be built from Dolcoath to Dudnance Lane across the Red River Valley and from Dudnance Lane to Wilson Way.
Councillor Bert Biscoe, the council's portfolio holder for Transportation and Highways, said: "Let's hope this brings the people of Camborne, Pool and Redruth closer together to achieve a common purpose of general sustainable economic prosperity."
The council will be hosting an Information Event at The Hub Club in Pool on Friday 8 March and Saturday 9 March between 9am and 5pm for residents to meet those behind the project.
