A teenage boy snatched a 96-year-old woman's handbag containing £100 in north Cornwall.

The woman's beige handbag was taken at about 14:30 GMT on Wednesday as she made her way home from POD stores towards West Park in Wadebridge.

The suspect, aged between 14 and 18-years-old and of medium build, escaped in the direction of Eglosayle Church.

Devon and Cornwall Police said the victim was not injured but has been left "severely shaken".

Sgt Robin Moorcroft, from Devon and Cornwall Police, said the elderly woman's confidence has been "completely shot" and she doubts she will "ever be able to go out again".

Police have received offers from well wishers and are appealing for anyone with information to come forward.
