St Austell's White River Place car park price cut

Part of the shopping complex in St Austell The shopping centre, which opened in 2009, formed a major part of the town's regeneration plans

A shopping centre in Cornwall has reduced the price of parking to £1 for the day in a bid to attract more visitors and boost trade.

The car park at White River Place, in St Austell, can hold 500 vehicles.

Organisers hope the scheme, which will run only on Saturday, will encourage shoppers to visit the town instead of going elsewhere for the January sales.

Normal parking prices start at 80p for up to one hour and rise to £8 for up to 12 hours.
