Sixty jobs to go at Bodmin printing firm MPG Books

MPG Books in Bodmin is stopping lithographic printing

More than 60 jobs are to go at a Cornish printing business.

MPG Books in Bodmin is closing the lithographic side of its operation, which employs traditional methods of printing, affecting 64 out of about 130 staff.

The posts are likely to go on 21 December, the BBC understands.

Members of the union Unite have described the news as "devastating". The company has not been available for comment.

The Bodmin facility is to concentrate on using inkjet equipment for short-run digital publication printing.

It comes as Cornwall saw an increase in the number of people out of work and claiming benefits in a month.

The Office for National Statistics said 9,513 people were claiming in November, up from 9,030 in October.
