Cornwall emergency medical information made electronic

Key medical information for patients registered with GPs in Cornwall will be made electronic, the NHS has said.

The Summary Care Record will contain information about patient allergies and medication which medical teams can access at any time of the day.

NHS Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly said about 400,000 electronic records would be made over the next 18 months.

It said all patients would receive a letter informing them of the change and how to "opt out" if they wanted.

A spokesperson from NHS Cornwall said: "This information can make all the difference to a patient's care in an emergency when no other information is available, especially when GP practices are closed."
