Voyeur paramedic William E Chamberlain struck off

A paramedic has lost his job after taking photos of a female colleague showering at an ambulance station.

William E Chamberlain, 63, of Liskeard, was struck off by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

An HCPC panel heard he took the photos as the woman took a shower after arriving for an early shift at the Cornwall station.

Chamberlain admitted voyeurism when he appeared at Cornwall Magistrates Court in April.

Police, who were alerted by the woman, seized Chamberlain's camera and found deleted images of the woman in the shower.

Chamberlain, who had been a paramedic for 32 years, was sentenced to a 12-month community order by magistrates.

Jacki Pearce, chair of the HCPC panel, said after the ruling: "Both members of the public and colleagues are entitled to have trust in the integrity and high standards of behaviour of all paramedics.

"In the judgement of the panel, the consequence of William E Chamberlain's conviction and sentence is that he cannot be permitted to resume practice."

Chamberlain was not present and not represented at the hearing.

No-one was immediately available for comment from the South Western Ambulance Service.
