Surfers rescue fisherman after boat fall off Bude

Surfers have rescued a man who fell from a fishing boat into the sea in north Cornwall.

The man fell about 25ft (8m) from the boat which was about 330ft (100m) off the Bude coast.

He was not injured and has returned to his vessel.

Coastguard spokesman Martin Bidmead said: "It [the boat] was going round in circles at full speed which was extremely dangerous to approach for the inshore lifeboat."

He added: "They managed to stop it by putting ropes into the propeller of the engine."

Falmouth Coastguard was alerted to the incident at about 07:45 BST.
