An armed robber is on the run after stealing scratch cards from a petrol station in Cornwall.

Staff at the Shell garage on the A30 at Fraddon were threatened with a hand gun at about 22:30 BST on Monday.

Devon and Cornwall Police said armed officers and the force helicopter were involved in the hunt for the robber.

The suspect is described as a white male in his late teens or early 20s. He was wearing a blue striped top and a green balaclava.

No-one was injured and the police have asked anyone with information to contact them.

Insp Andy Oliver said: "I would like to assure the public that incidents of this nature are luckily few and far between in the two counties."
