Colin Moody jailed for sexually abusing girl
Moody was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the rest of his life
A 67-year-old man from Cornwall who "destroyed" a girl's childhood by sexually abusing her in the 1980s has been jailed for five-and-half years.
Colin Moody, from Appin Gardens, Redruth, pleaded guilty at Truro Crown Court to assaulting the girl when she was aged between 11 and 13.
Judge John Neligan said the girl was abused in the "grossest way possible".
The plumbing and heating engineer admitted six counts of gross indecency and six of indecent assault.
The judge said the girl was at a "vulnerable and highly sensitive age" and the abuse had "blighted her life ever since".
He gave Moody credit for having pleaded guilty and accepted that he was very remorseful.
Moody was ordered to sign the sex offenders register for the rest of his life and the judge imposed an order restraining him from contacting his victim in any way.
