Helford River missing swimmer named as Christian Selman

Police have named a man who disappeared while swimming in a Cornwall river.

Kristian Selman, 36, who lives on a boat near Durgan on the Helford River, was reported to be shouting for help as he swam to a dinghy on Wednesday.

Coastguards were initially involved in an air-and-sea operation but are now searching on a smaller scale.

A member of the public raised the alarm to report a man in the water 200m off Grebe Beach at about 18:40 BST.

A Maritime and Coastguard Agency spokesperson said further searches were carried out on Thursday at high and low tides without success.
