Gales bring down trees and power lines in Cornwall

Gale-force winds have brought down several trees and some power lines in Cornwall.

Winds of more than 50mph (80km/h) swept across the county overnight, the Met Office said.

Idless Lane in Shortlanesend, near Truro, was blocked after a tree, power lines and telephone cables fell on the road.

In west Cornwall, traffic was affected on the A30 at Newlyn after a tree partially blocked the road.

The A3074 St Ives Road in Lelant was also blocked because of a fallen tree.

There have been no reports of any injuries.
