Money concerns for Cornwall's Screech Owl Sanctuary

Help

A Cornish wildlife sanctuary which cares for sick and injured owls may have to close its hospital because of a lack of income, it has said.

Screech Owl Sanctuary, near St Columb, said a fall in donations and visitor numbers in 2011 had led to cutbacks in staffing and conservation work.

Owner Carolyn Screech said: "If we had to reduce costs, the first thing that would have to go would be the rehabilitation centre."

In 2011 the owl hospital treated more than 360 sick and injured owls.
