Rough sleepers in Cornwall will have greater access to shelter and support for the beginning of 2012 from a local charity extending its opening hours.

The St Petroc's Society said its services were to be accessible 24 hours a day until the end of January.

The charity usually only operates during normal office hours, with occasional closing at 20:00.

Chief Executive Steve Ellis said he estimated that about 120 people slept rough in the county on any night.
