Two of Cornwall's surfers are through to the semi-finals of the longboard event at the Boardmasters in Newquay.
Surfers from around the world have gathered at Fistral Beach for the annual competition.
Ben Skinner and Adam Griffiths both made the most of their local knowledge of the Cornish waves, according to commentators.
The semi-finals of the week-long surfing event are expected to take place on Saturday.
In round one of the competition, Ben Skinner produced the highest single wave score of the event.
He recorded a score of 9.73 out of 10.
Mr Skinner will now face Remi Arauzo, France, in the semi-finals, knowing a win will book him a place on the ASP world tour.
His main rival Antoine Delpero is also through to the semi-finals. The Frenchman will Cornwall's Adam Griffith, who beat fellow UK surfer Ben Haworth in the quarter finals.
In the women's longboard event, Newquay's Candice O'Donnell was the only British surfer to reach the semi-finals.
She will surf against Georgia Young from Australia on Saturday.
