More than 125,000 people visited the Royal Cornwall Show, the second highest attendance since records began.

Despite rain 127,388 people visited the three-day event. The highest recorded number of visitors was 129,000 in 2008.

Show organisers said ticket sales had been popular in advance and on the gate.

Show secretary Christopher Riddle said: "It is good for Cornwall that the show enjoys support from all sectors of the community."

The high visitor numbers also meant an increase in vehicles and emergency services were called to attend a five-car collision on Saturday evening in the showground's car park.

Devon and Cornwall Police said two people were taken to hospital including a man, 46, from Manchester, who suffered chest injuries.

Four others were treated for minor injuries at the showground's medical centre.

The 2012 Royal Cornwall Show is scheduled to take place on 7, 8 and 9 June.

The show has been held at the Royal Cornwall Showground in Wadebridge since 1960.
