Circuit of Fens race cyclist collides with steam roller

A cyclist, believed to be in his 20s, has been airlifted to hospital after colliding with a steam roller.

Ambulance crews were called to Oilmills Road at Pondersbridge, Cambridgeshire, at 13:05 BST.

The cyclist was taken to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge where he was treated for a severe leg injury and a deep cut to the head.

He had been taking part in the Circuit of the Fens bike race, which was consequently suspended.

The race resumed on a shorter circuit later in the afternoon.
