Two Peterborough men cleared in child sex gang trial

Two men have been cleared of the sexual exploitation of vulnerable teenagers following the direction of a judge.

Akash Yasin, 18, of Gladstone Street, Peterborough, and Mohammed Aslam, 24, of Grange Road in the city, were on trial accused of rape and sexual assault among other charges.

Judge Mark Lucraft told the Cambridge Crown Court jury to find the men not guilty following legal argument.

Both men face no further charges and walked free from court.

Three men remain on trial, but two have also been cleared of some charges.

The trial involves the alleged abuse of eight girls from the Peterborough area.

The court heard the abuse on the girls, aged between 13 and 16, is alleged to have happened between 2008 and 2013.
