MP Stewart Jackson said the accused man had thrown a beer bottle at a bus shelter
A man has denied assaulting a Peterborough MP during an incident in the city on Saturday.
Ivans Karanovs, 20, a Latvian from the Sandford area of the city, was charged with common assault after Conservative MP Stewart Jackson was injured.
Mr Jackson said he was trying to make a citizen's arrest after seeing the accused vandalise a bus shelter.
Mr Karanovs also denied criminal damage and was bailed to reappear at the city's magistrates' court in October.
