Peterborough employment zone could create 8,000 jobs
An employment zone being created in Peterborough could create up to 8,000 jobs for the city, its developer says.
Work has started on Gateway Peterborough, a 240-acre (97-hectare) distribution and manufacturing park next to the A1(M).
A spokesman from Roxhill Developments said that once completed the site could create thousands of jobs in distribution and warehousing.
He said proximity to the A1 and A14 made the city an "ideal location".
"Peterborough is right the centre of England," he said.
"The A1(M) provides a strategic north-south link between London and Edinburgh, while the A14 provides an east-west dual carriageway connection from the ports of Felixstowe and Harwich to the Midlands motorway network."
