Five arrested following serious assaults in Peterborough

A 21-year-old man is being treated in Cambridge for a "potentially life-threatening head injury" following a suspected assault in Peterborough.

A 59-year-old man also sustained serious facial injuries and is being treated in hospital in Peterborough.

Police were called to the incidents at about 02:45 BST outside Coco's club on Broadway.

Two 19-year-old men and three other men aged 20, 21 and 23 were arrested on suspicion of affray.

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said the injured men were found lying in the middle of the road near the club.

They were treated at the scene before being transferred to Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge and Peterborough City Hospital.

The arrested men are currently in custody at Thorpe Wood Police Station in Peterborough.
