Chittering murder: Crimewatch reconstruction and poster appeal

Police hope reward posters and a TV appeal will help their investigation

Posters advertising a £50,000 reward for information about the murder of a former farmer at his Cambridgeshire home, have been issued by police.

Llywelyn Thomas, 76, was found dead at his Chittering home on 18 December last year.

Officers believe he was killed the previous night between 21:30 and 22:30 GMT during a botched burglary.

A BBC Crimewatch reconstruction featuring the last known movements of Mr Thomas will be broadcast on Tuesday.

Mr Thomas' family is offering £20,000, Crimestoppers £10,000 and Cambridgeshire Police £20,000 for information which leads to the conviction of his murderer.

Mr Thomas had been a farmer in the Bridgend area of south Wales before moving to Cambridgeshire 12 years ago.

Det Ch Insp George Barr, leading the investigation for Cambridgeshire Police, urged anyone with information to contact the force on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
