Jail for rapist who held Cambridge victim hostage for four days

A man who kept a woman imprisoned in her Cambridge home and repeatedly raped her over a four-day period has been jailed for 17-and-a-half years.

The 22 year old was sentenced on Monday at Cambridge Crown Court for the attack which took place in April last year.

He was found guilty at trial of five counts of rape and placed on the sex offenders register for life.

Judge Gareth Hawkesworth said the man, from south London, could not be named for legal reasons.

Det Sgt Neil Hewson, from Cambridgeshire Police, said after the hearing: "The offender is a very dangerous man who subjected the victim to sexual, emotional and physical abuse.

"She has shown great courage and determination in going to court to give evidence against her attacker, which has resulted in his conviction and imprisonment."

He said the sentence reflected the seriousness of the offences.
