Murder arrest over woman's death at St Ives house

A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after tests revealed a woman found at a house in Cambridgeshire died from compression to the neck.

Police went to Gainsborough Drive in St Ives after a call was received by the control room on Thursday morning.

They found the body of a 54-year-old woman and a man in his 50s with abdominal injuries.

Forensic tests are being carried out at the property.

Police said they were not in a position to name the woman as she had not been formally identified.

The injured man is being treated at Addenbrooke's Hospital in Cambridge.
