Bristol woman dies after finding her home burgled

An elderly woman has died after discovering her home in Bristol had been burgled.

Avon and Somerset Police said officers were called out to a burglary at a house in Oaktree Crescent, Bradley Stoke at 12:39 BST on Thursday.

A woman, in her 70s, was taken to hospital when she became ill after returning home to find jewellery and cash had been taken. She later died.

Three men have been arrested in connection with the theft, police said.

Police said the three men were arrested later in the afternoon following another burglary at a house in Hambrook Lane, Stoke Gifford.

Jewellery stolen in both burglaries has not been recovered. The woman's death has been referred to the coroner, a police spokesman added.
