The Staffordshire Bull Terrier was found dead outside Beaufort House in the early hours of Sunday morning.

A dog plunged to its death from the 11th floor of a block of flats in Bristol, prompting a police probe.

The four-and-a-half-year-old female Staffordshire Bull Terrier was found dead outside Beaufort House in Barton Hill in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police said they had established the dog's owner lives on the 11th floor but not how the dog came to fall.

A second dog was seized by police and is currently in the care of the RSPCA.

Avon and Somerset Police said a woman had been interviewed under caution about the incident, which is thought to have happened between midnight and 4:00 BST on 11 May.

"We are working in partnership with the RSPCA to establish exactly what took place," said acting Sgt Stuart King.

"And I would like to remind anyone who owns an animal that they have a duty of care to look after that animal and to treat it well."
