Mark Oldfield Mark Oldfield stabbed his girlfriend 30 times

A man who stabbed a woman 30 times during an attack eight years ago has absconded.

Mark Oldfield, 40, was jailed for six years after the drink and drug-fuelled attack on Salisbury Plain in 2006.

After stabbing his victim he head-butted her and attempted to set her on fire using an aerosol and a lighter.

Police said Oldfield failed to report to a premises in Bristol at an agreed time. They have warned members of the public not to approach him.

He and his victim, Hayley Cooper, had been travelling around the country begging before the attack.

Oldfield, originally from Devizes, Wiltshire, was jailed for six years but is subject to a lifetime parole order.

He is known to have links with Bristol and Wiltshire, police said.

Oldfield has a tattoo of a Lego man on his head and a red devil's face on his left forearm.
