New information has been passed to police who are hunting for the killer of a man stabbed to death in Bristol more than a week ago.

Nicholas Robinson, 19, died after he was attacked leaving Ron Jones House, in Jamaica Street, Stokes Croft.

On Wednesday, his fiancee made an appeal for witnesses to come forward.

Det Ch Insp Andy Bevan said they were "actively looking" into calls after the appeal and the release of CCTV showing a man they want to speak to.

"We have had a good response from the public following yesterday's appeal and the release of CCTV images," Det Ch Insp Bevan said.

"We believe there are people out there who know who is responsible for Nicholas' murder and I would urge them to do the right thing and speak to us."

The trainee bricklayer was stabbed in a communal stairwell and managed to ring the police before collapsing in the street.

Mr Robinson had bought an engagement ring the weekend before he was stabbed.

Seven people have been arrested in connection with the stabbing. Five have been released on bail and two have been released without charge.
