Teacher Kelly Ann-Marie Burgess charged with sex offences

A woman teacher has been charged with four sexual offences against a boy aged between 13 and 17.

Kelly Ann-Marie Burgess, 26, of Newport, faces four counts of adult abuse of a position of trust - sexual activity with a boy.

The offences are said to have happened between 1 January and 28 August 2013, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Ms Burgess is due to appear at North Somerset Magistrates' Court at Worle on 17 March.

North Somerset Council said the school where Ms Burgess was employed has been working closely with Avon and Somerset Police.

"The individual concerned is no longer employed by the school and has not worked at the school since August last year," the statement said.

"As the matter is the subject of a police investigation, it would be inappropriate to comment any further."
