A teenager suffered a suspected dislocated shoulder after falling 160ft (50m) down a cliff in Bristol.

The 15-year-old boy, who had been playing with friends, fell from the cliff near Vicarage Road in Hanham at about 20:30 BST on Wednesday.

He was trapped by trees partway down cliff and was lowered to the ground on a stretcher by a specialist rope rescue team.

Avon Fire and Rescue spokesman Darren Bane said: "He's very fortunate."

"There was a lot of trees and undergrowth that broke his fall. It could have been a lot worse."

The teenager is recovering in hospital.
