Bristol church's £50,000 Virgin Mary statue destroyed
A statue of the Virgin Mary which stood in the grounds of a church in Bristol and was worth about £50,000 has been destroyed by vandals.
The incident happened at the weekend at Our Lady of the Rosary Roman Catholic Church in Lawrence Weston.
It comes two weeks after a notice board was set on fire at the church.
A Clifton Diocese spokesman said the church did not think the two events were anything other than "mindless vandalism".
Avon and Somerset Police have launched an investigation.
