Two Bristol hospitals have achieved silver Food for Life awards from the Soil Association.

The hospitals, part of North Bristol NHS Trust, have been recognised for their commitment to providing locally sourced and freshly prepared meals.

Southmead and Frenchay hospitals were awarded the accreditation for using only farm-assured meat, as well as 100% organic minced beef in patient meals.

Each day about 2,500 patient meals are made on-site.

In the most recent survey of inpatients carried out by the Trust, 93% said their hospital meals were good or excellent.
