Arrest after man dies in Bristol collision

Police near the Texaco garage where a man was knocked down in a hit-and-run Police have asked the public for help to find the driver of the car which did not stop

A man has been arrested after a pedestrian aged in his 70s died in a hit-and-run collision near Frenchay Hospital in Bristol.

Police said the man was fatally injured on Frenchay Park Road, near the Texaco garage, just after 07:00 GMT.

Avon and Somerset Police said a 24-year-old man was arrested at lunchtime and being questioned on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.

A car was also seized by officers. Police are appealing for witnesses.
