Dummy fireworks stolen from Hambrook retail cabin

A hapless thief has stolen dummy fireworks used as display models from a retail cabin near Bristol.

The models were taken from a portable cabin in a field off Bristol Road, in Hambrook, at the weekend.

Police said the thief broke in, forced open display cabinets and stole a number of the dummy fireworks.

Michael Seward, who runs the outlet, said: "It's quite funny, really, and I'm pleased the person responsible has not got any satisfaction out of it."

'Some bright spark'

He added: "Fortunately, I had extra dummy fireworks so I have been able to carry on trading, despite the theft."

PC Lisa Nelson, from Avon and Somerset Police, said she hoped it would be "a lesson to them that crime doesn't pay".

"Some bright spark has stolen dummy fireworks and is likely to be very disappointed when their display doesn't go with a bang," she said.

"Nevertheless I am investigating the theft and am keen to speak to the person responsible."

The display fireworks stolen included King Cobra Rockets, Big Mamas, Titan Rocket, Hercules, Cheeky Cherries, Twister, The Beast and Starburst.
