A memorial service will be held later in Canada for a man whose body was found at a waste recycling plant in Bristol.

Canadian student Garrett Elsey, 22, was found at the New Earth Solutions waste centre in Avonmouth on 27 September.

It is understood he somehow ended up in a communal bin outside his flat after a night out.

Avon and Somerset police are unsure how Mr Elsey died but are not treating his death as suspicious.

Mr Elsey had recently finished an undergraduate degree in Ottawa and had arrived in Bristol to begin a Master of Science degree in International Security in the School of Sociology, Politics and International Studies at Bristol University.

The memorial service will held in Mr Elsey's home town of Sherwood Park in the province of Alberta.
