Hazardous waste raid: Ten arrested
Ten people have been arrested in an operation against illegal dumping of hazardous waste.
Sixty Environment Agency (EA) investigators raided several sites this week as part of an investigation into an Avonmouth-based company.
The EA said the raids targeted the suspected illegal treatment, dumping and trading of waste including heavy metals and asbestos.
The 10 have been released on bail until January while investigations continue.
The EA said the Health Protection Agency had been closely involved because of the nature of the waste, and would continue to assess any potential risk to public health.
