Evon Berry remembered by Bristol community

Help

A Bristol community has come together to remember a man who was murdered 16 years ago.

Evon Berry, known as Bangy to his friends, was shot in St Pauls on 1 January 1996 on his way home from a New Year's Eve celebration, after trying to stop an attack on another man.

Bangy's Day, which was held on Sunday, celebrated the life of Mr Berry and those who have stood for peace in the city.

Mr Berry was posthumously awarded the Queen's Gallantry Medal for his bravery.
