Kitten and Richard von Mew at the Avon Valley Railway Kitten and Richard von Mew met at a World War II event

Burlesque dancer and vintage pin-up Kitten von Mew has tied the knot to her fiance Richard on board a steam train near Bristol.

Richard also changed his surname to von Mew by deed poll before the nuptials.

The couple, whose relatives come from Bristol, threw a ball for the public to round off their wedding and raise money for the Avon Valley Railway.

Bitton Station, the locomotives, carriages and track have all been restored by volunteers.

Kitten von Mew, from Stratford-upon-Avon, said: "The 1940s is very close to our hearts. I have been a vintage pin-up for 11 years and my partner and I met at a World War II event.

"We love the music, the fashions and the atmosphere from that era.

"When we visited, we fell in love with the station. The amount of work, love and devotion which people there have put into it is incredible."
