Kayaker dies after going missing on River Frome

A man has died after he went missing while kayaking near Bristol.

Emergency services received several 999 calls at about 22:20 GMT on Wednesday night.

Five or six people were kayaking on the river Frome, in Frenchay, when one went missing, the ambulance service said.

The man, believed to be in his 30s, was found but suffered cardiac arrest and died in hospital. A second patient was also taken to Frenchay Hospital with exhaustion.
