Bristol has been chosen as a training venue for Kenyan Olympic and Paralympic athletes.

A delegation previously visited the city and looked at sporting facilities at the University of the West of England and Filton College.

Their visit also included a sightseeing trip of the city before a ceremony at the Council House where contracts were signed.

Both locations will be used in the run-up to the London 2012 Olympics.

This announcement comes one year after Kenyan Olympic Kipchoge "Kip" Keino opened the £1.3m Kip Keino Athletic Stadium at Filton College.

The 70-year-old is the chairman of the Kenyan Olympic Committee.

He described the facilities in Bristol as "wonderful".

"The people of Bristol have given us a very friendly welcome. We feel we are at home. It's a wonderful thing for sports development in this country," he added.
