Police hunt for escaped Leyhill prisoner

Police are searching for a 39-year-old man who has absconded from Leyhill Open Prison in South Gloucestershire.

Dennis Alford, who was convicted for drugs offences and burglary, was last seen at the prison on 3 August.

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said Alford may have returned to Weston-super-Mare, where he used to live.

He is described as white, about 5ft 8ins tall, slim with short brown hair.

Alford is serving a four-years-and-nine-months prison sentence for burglary and possession with intent to supply Class A drugs.
