Three men jailed for Aldridge mansion fire

Three men have been jailed for an arson attack on a mansion seized from a man convicted of mortgage fraud.

George Brandy, Richard Sylvester and Parminder Kandola, all from Nottingham, were jailed at Stafford Crown Court for arson with intent to endanger life.

Sylvester and Brandy were sentenced to four years and Kandola four-and-a-half.

The house in Aldridge, West Midlands, had been valued at more than £1m but was destroyed in April. It had belonged to David Harris and was due to be sold.

He had previously been jailed for his part in an extensive mortgage fraud involving millions of pounds, the Serious Organised Crime Agency (Soca) said.

Soca launched a civil recovery case through the Proceeds of Crime Act and took possession of the house, a spokesman said.
